High Dependency & Neonatal Transfer Service
In order to provide this more demanding service, we have undertaken extensive research in to the needs of our clients. We looked long and hard at the various training requirements as well as additional vehicles and equipment that would be needed. Through our research we believe that we have attained a solution to the problems often encountered when requesting such services from other ambulance services. We are able to provide a cost effective solution that ensures professionally trained staff are on board that would be able to deal with most situations.
Whatever levels of care your patients requires you can be confident that AST Ambulance Service has the experience and expertise to deliver the service you need. We have strived to provide staff from all medical disciplines and can offer specialist Doctors & Nurses in most areas of expertise. Our Paramedics are all registered with the HPC.
Our business strategy calls for continuous improvement. As a part of this, we have identified Medical Gas Solutions Products as an improvement over conventional suppliers. Their Gas cylinders have a far greater capacity allowing us to carry 4240 liters of oxygen on all of our vehicles, giving us the ability offer High concentrations over longer periods.
AST Ambulance Service continues to re-invest in all areas of our service and the provision of up to date equipment is certainly no exception. All of our medical equipment is serviced and calibrated annually by Williams Medical Supplies. Much of our equipment is carried on our vehicles as a matter of course, but more specialist equipment is held either at base or 'ready to go' on one of our support vehicles.
Over the years there has been much discussion over driving on 'blue lights'. We only ever used seasoned staff from within our team to drive in this particular service area. All of those staff will also work towards a 'BTEC' award in Advanced & Defensive Driving throughout their career with us. Once achieved, staff will progress toward an IHCD qualification in Emergency Driving. Annual retests as well as additional courses in Skid Control are taken to ensure an individuals commitment to themselves and our clients.
Our Operations Director has many years experience in Pre Hospital Care in both the NHS & Private Sectors.
He said, "AST brings the professional standards required to ensure total patient care. Our service provides the right skills from technician to doctor ensuring continuity of care and commitment to patient treatment".
